Bedër in collaboration with the Catholic University “Zoja e Këshillit të Mirë” ("Our Lady of Good Counsel") organized a mutual scientific conference “The Family in a Global Context: Current and Future Perspectives”.
The President of the Republic of Albania, His Excellency Mr. Bujar Nishani congratulated the workings for the conference. He evaluated family as the main cell of the society in his address and invited the young generation and the institutions to serve it with devotion. His Excellency Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Papal Council on Family in Vatican attended the opening ceremony as well. In his address about family love, he emphasized the harmony in family as an essential element to be expanded in national level.
Whereas, H. E. Alberto Cutillo, Ambassador of Italy in Albania said in his address “Family is the main bond of our life and existence. Together, we must do more for this precious treasure by joining and working to improve the conditions for a healthy family”. Apostolic Nuncio in Albania attended the panel as well. According to him, spiritual viewpoint of various aspects of present society is fundamental to guarantee for the new generations a family based on a firm footing.
Furthermore, the Rector of Bedër University, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, having thanked the participants for their participation and co-organizing the conference, said that currently, there is a tendency to undervalue or even fully depreciate the true and natural role of the family by destroying it as a social structure.
“None of this would contribute to the society in the parameters of modernity and globalization, its construction in accordance with current standards of civilization. Hence, the need arises to support the creation and strengthening of the family, giving to the structure a more stable legal, cultural and social dimension and strengthening of the personality and position of women and men, seeing these as important elements of the peace and development of humanity.”- said he.
Also, the Rector of the University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” Prof. Bruno Giardina congratulated the workings for the conference. He considered the cooperation between the two institutions as efficient and of particular importance to the treatment of such a theme for the younger generations.
“The family is a common responsibility, not only in the creation context but in its preservation and well-functioning context as well”- said he.
Following the completion of the opening ceremony, the first session started with scientific references from distinguished academics such as Prof. Dr. Briseida Mema , Bedër University, Prof. Tritan Shehu, Catholic University LGC, Dr. Atakan Derelioglu, Bedër University, and Prof. Raul Caruso, Catholic University of Milano who during the presentations of related works focused on the importance of family in a global context, its journey along centuries and its actuality in present.
