DIALOGUE IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ABRAHAM (Pbuh) - Interfaith Dialogue in Islam: The Example of Albania

Speakers: Klodian Shehi: Deputy Head of Muslim Community of Albania. His topic was about “Dialogue in Islam”. Dr. Genti Kruja: The Director of The Culture and Chief Editor of “Zani I Nalte” magazine. His topic was about “Interfaith Dialogue Activities in Albania”. Moderator: Atakan Derelioğlu. Director of Beder Center of Islamic Studies. The panel titled “Dialogue in The Footsteps of Abraham (pbuh)” was organized by Beder Center of Islamic Studies has taken place in the Conference room under the subheading “Interfaith Dialogue in Islam: The Example of Albania” on 15. April .2014 Klodian Shehi the Deputy Head of Muslim Community of Albania elaborated on the topic of Interfaith Dialogue in Islam from the perspective of Islamic history. Dr. Genti Kruja: The Director of The Culture and Interfaith Dialogue in Department of Muslim Community of Albania and Chief Editor of “Zani I Nalte” magazine presented a socio-historical overview on interreligious harmony and tolerance in Albania.

TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR IMAMS / 2- Islam and Communications in Public - The Region of Kavaja and Elbasan

The objective of the training programme was to provide knowledge and communications skills for community-based issues. The training program has been joined by many religious official such as the Deputy Head of Muslim Community of Albania, Mufties and Imams from Kavaja and Elbasan. The Imam training program was organized into 2 sessions.

Prof.Dr. Ayhan Tekineş visits the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Pristina and Skopje

Vc.rector and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Bedër University Prof. Dr. Ayhan Tekines along with leaders of the Muslim Community of Albania held a working visit to Kosovo and Macedonia. Delegation was composed of Head of Muslim Community Mr .Skender Brucaj, Director of Culture at MC, Mr. Genti Kruja and chief of the Department of Islamic Sciences at Bedër University, Mr. Adil Kutlu, who were welcomed by the head of the Islamic Community of Kosovo Mufti NaimmTërnava and his staff. During his stay in Pristina, the delegation also visited the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, where it was welcomed by Dean Prof. Dr. Qazim Qazimi and university staff. Both sides agreed to an academic collaboration with joint activities in the three centers, Tirana, Pristina and Skopje. In conclusion, the Dean of Pristina handed a certificate of gratitude to the vice rector of Bedër University Prof. Dr. Ayhan Tekines for the cooperation so far. After its visit to Pristina, delegation from Albania continued the visit to Skopje, at the Islamic Religious Community in Macedonia, where they were welcomed by the community leader Sulejman Rexhepi and General Secretary Mr. Afrim Tahiri. Mr. Rexhepi expressed his satisfaction for the visit and emphasized that the doors for cooperation in Skopje will always be open and will have the highest institutional support. Later, the delegation visited the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Skopje, where they were welcomed by Dean Prof.Dr. Fahredin Edipi, also by the academic staff. Mr.Edipi also expressed his willingness for a close collaboration in academic field with Albanian Muslim Community and Bedër University.

This training programme took place in 15.02.2014. The objective of the training programme was to provide knowledge and communications skills for community-based issues. The training program has been joined by many religious official such as the Head of Muslim Community of Albania, Muftis and Imams from Tirana. The Imam training program was organized into 2 sessions. The programme was as followed: 1- Zarfi Rizal Quran Recitation. 2- Speech of Mufti of Tirana Ylli Gurra. 3- Speech of head of Albanian Muslim Community Skender Bruçaj. 4- Speech of Dean of Humanities Faculty Prof. Dr. Ayhan Tekineş “İmportance of Unity and Solidarity in İslam". 5- Coffee Break 6- Speech f Muhammed Mutevelli, “Qualities of Da'iyah (caller to İslam) and İslamic methods of Da'wah (invitation)” 7- Speech of Ramadan Çipuri “The Art of Communication in Public". 8-Presentation on İntroduction to University" 9- Elton Karaj Presentation on İntroduction to the Department of İslamic Sciences". 10-Ceremony for the Distribution of Certificates. 11- Lunch

PROPHET MUHAMMAD (Pbuh) AND HUMAN DIGNITY AND VALUE

The Director of Bedër Center of Islamic Studies (BECIS) Mr. Atakan Derelioğlu attended a symposium titled “PROPHET MUHAMMAD (Pbuh) and HUMAN DIGNITY and VALUE” organized by Komuniteti Mysliman i Shqipërisë on 13 January 2014. His topic was the Islamic Social Justice and The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The topic of justice is of central importance for each of us. He elaborated on social justice and development as being like a whole completing each other for the healthy development of a moral and just society.

BLESSED DAYS AND TIMES IN ISLAM / 2- The Last Ten Days of Ramadan and Laylat Al-Qadr (The Night of Power)

The panel event was hosted by “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University. The event took place on Monday 29 July 2013 in the conference room. The panelists were Elton Karaj and Ali Zaimi. The panelists elaborated on the Night of Power is the night that the first revelation of the Qur'an was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad. Muslims are instructed to “seek” the Night of Power during the last ten days of Ramadan. Muslims worldwide spend the last ten nights of Ramadan in solid devotion, retreating to the mosque to read Qur'an (i'tikaf), reciting special supplications (du'a), and reflecting on the meaning of Allah's message to us. It is believed to be a time of intense spirituality, when the believers are surrounded by angels, the gates of heaven are open, and God's blessings and mercy are abundant.

BLESSED DAYS AND TIMES IN ISLAM / 1- Fasting and Health

The panel event was hosted by “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University. The event took place on Thursday 18 July 2013 in the conference room. The panelists were Elton Karaj and Sabri Raza. During the month of Ramadan Muslims eat a pre-dawn breakfast and do not eat or drink anything until dusk. The panelists elaborated on the physiological effect of fasting which includes lower of blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol and lowering of the systolic blood pressure. In fact, Ramadan fasting would be an ideal recommendation for treatment of mild to moderate, stable, non-insulin diabetes, obesity and essential hypertension.
